We begin with natural products and drug discovery and integrate functional screening, molecular and cellular biology, long-term animal studies, multi-omics, and AI-assisted data integration to identify key mechanisms in healthy aging and cancer and advance basic discoveries toward testable translational research.
We seek promising bioactive compounds from natural products, determine how they influence aging and disease, and validate their effects through cellular and animal experiments.
Our corylin program progressed from natural-product screening to a long-term natural-aging study, comparing both sexes and multiple organs and integrating multi-omics analyses to define its effects on healthy aging. The work was published in Nature Communications in 2026.
Congratulations to Shu-Fang Cheng!
Shu-Fang received her undergraduate training in cosmetology at National Taichung University of Science and Technology before entering the Graduate Institute of Natural Products at Chang Gung University, where she completed both her master’s and doctoral training. Coming from a non-biomedical background, she progressively developed expertise in natural products, molecular biology, aging research, multi-omics analysis, and long-term animal studies, and completed this work as first author.

Wei-Che Tseng graduated from a cosmetology and hairstyling-related program at Vanung University. After joining our laboratory for his master’s training, he began with fundamental research skills, progressively developed the ability to conduct independent research, and published in Nature Communications as first author. He subsequently received a full scholarship to pursue doctoral study at The University of Texas at Austin.
His path shows that where a researcher begins does not determine how far they can go. A willingness to learn, sustained commitment, and resilience in the face of difficulty are the qualities we value most.
