Sinopsis Karya
Taking inspiration from the renowned Malay proverb “Udang di sebalik batu” which translates to “Nothing is as it seems”, a lobster takes form within the right panel of the work and poses as a literal symbol for the proverb. Whilst the grasshopper and lobster are two very different creatures of the land and sea respectively, they are not large in size yet may bring about larger-than-life consequences. Selects these two seemingly harmless creatures as a metaphor for us to consider the Laws of Nature. A Piece of Land: Dry Season serves as a stark reminder for us to be grateful for our blessings; that everything and all things in life have a meaning and a role to play.
