Dear KG families,
I could not have asked for a better way to finish off the month of October other than seeing our young learners arrive to school with their space theme to recognize Hazzaa Ali Almansoori. We saw astronauts, stars, planets and innovative ways to express themselves through the lens of Space.
As we head into November, we are preparing for our conferences next Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th. This is such a beneficial way for students to share their learning with you and to see what some of their goals are for the months ahead. We welcome you to sign up using the link that was shared and we look forward to seeing you there!
Field trips are well underway and students loved watching The Three Billy Goats Gruff last week. KG1 are starting to get ready for their next trip to Emirates Zoo on the 19th and 20th of November. Details will be sent out soon!
Thank you for continuing to support the students and teachers with volunteering inside the classroom, supporting swimming lessons, joining in on events and activities. We appreciate you!
Have an enjoyable and restful weekend!
Warmest Regards,
Niamh Callanan

The KG students have been enjoying their new library space immensely. The entire library has been restructured and has now got brand new browsing bins, 6 different learning areas and students are taught how to self-checkout books this year.
We have been focusing on a variety of skills in the various learning areas. These include our LEGO area, our building area, our OSMO area, our C-Touch board and the variety of apps we can use on the board as well as giant Jenga.
Students access to books is much more simplified, ensuring that students are bringing home books that they enjoy reading. Remember that readers are made on the laps of their parents. Please stop by the library anytime to come enjoy our love of literacy.
In KG1E we have started our student name studies. This is a time to let the class explore the letters that make up each other’s names. We sing about the letter and use our hands to draw it in the air. We connect our learning to math by counting the letters in each student’s name and clapping out the number of syllables. The class is then invited to draw a picture of their friend that we make in to a book for the student to take home. After we finish, the “Star Student” helps me show the book to the class. As a class, we used our pictures to graph which letter our name begins with. Then we counted together to see who had the most and least. The kids are loving learning to recognize the first letter in their name and to see who has the same letter as them!
October 20th our KG students attended a wonderful show "Three Billy Goats Gruff" at the GAA Auditorium, by S4K International. Here are some pictures:
