Reading is Magical
March Issue - Book Week Edition
GEMS American Academy celebrated Book Week from March 13th to 17th with the enchanting theme of “Reading is Magical”. It is a time for the whole school community to celebrate the joy of books and reading! This year's Book Week was celebrated with various exciting activities that included book character dress-up day, book talks during advisory, hanging wall art by MS art classes, and an amazing Book Week Concert where the GAA Secondary Band performed music from movies based on books.
Book Week is a celebration to instill in our students a lifelong appreciation for the magic of reading! We hope that this celebration has sparked a love of reading and that you will explore more the world of books and literature!
The whole UAE also celebrates the joy of reading throughout the entire month as March was declared the Month of Reading by the UAE government in 2017.
BOOK CHARACTER DRESS UP DAY
One of the most anticipated activities during Book Week was the Book Character Dress-up Day. Secondary students and teachers came on March 14th dressed up as their favorite book characters, bringing them to life. The event was a great way to encourage reading and ignite everyone's imagination.
BOOK TALK VIDEOS
Another exciting activity during Book Week was the book talks held during middle school advisory. Students were given the opportunity to share a short talk about a book with the goal of convincing others to read it. This activity was an excellent way to promote reading. Watch also some of our lovely secondary teachers book talk too! We hope you find your next read from here!
