TOCFL
Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language

TOCFL is a foreign language proficiency test for non-native speakers of Chinese. Those who wish to know about their level of Chinese proficiency, or those who want to study, work or do business in Chinese speaking countries are welcome to register for the test. 

TOCFL test takers who reach the level requirements will receive a certificate. The certificate can serve as a Chinese proficiency credential for:

- Applying for the “Taiwan Scholarship.”

- Applying for academic programs at colleges or universities in Taiwan.

- Serving as a reference of Chinese subject for University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.

- Serving as a job-required proof of Chinese language proficiency. 

All TOCFL tests are computer-based.

Note: The TOCFL Writing is a computer-based test. Mandarin Chinese-typing ability (ㄅㄆㄇㄈor Microsoft Pinyin) is a requirement for all test takers.

- If you are registered for the computerized TOCFL listening and reading test, only the computer, earphones, and mouse will be used. You will only need to use the mouse to select the correct answers. You can go on the SC-TOP website and take a “Mock Test” to familiarize yourself with the TOCFL listening and reading test format and questions.

- If you are registered for the TOCFL speaking test, you will be using a computer. earphones, a mouse, and a microphone to record your answers.

- If you are registered for the TOCFL writing test, you will be using a computer, earphones, a mouse, and a keyboard to type your responses.
