Here are the Eligibility Criteria below:
Currently enrolled at the university with which we collaborate.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Achieve a minimum overall score of 70 in either the on-site or online Mandarin course.
(Optional) Pass the Novice 1 Level in the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) Speedy-Screening Test.
(Optional) Non-native English speakers are required to provide an English proficiency certificate at or above the CEFR B2 Level.
Applicants must be of non-Chinese background.

You will be studying at Shih Chien University, which is located in Taiwan's capital city, Taipei.
It takes only 10 minutes to walk from Shih Chien University to the MRT station, about 30 minutes to reach Taipei 101, and approximately 1 and half hours to reach Taoyuan National Airport.
Furthermore, it takes about 30 minutes to reach the Riverside Bikeway or Jian Tan Mountain Hiking Trail.

During your participation in the program, you will need to fulfill the following requirements for future promotional or record-keeping purposes:
A 1-2 page reflection report about the program (including but not limited to your experiences in the Chinese language courses, cultural excursions, and life on Shih Chien University's campus).
Photos of your life in Taiwan.
TOCFL screening test.
A 3-minute video sharing your thoughts and experiences (including but not limited to your reflections before and after joining the program, your Chinese language learning journey, and your life in Taiwan).
Based on the duration of your application (2-12 months) and actual period of Chinese language study in Taiwan, you will receive a monthly scholarship.
This scholarship will be pay your tuition fees, administration fees for accommodation, insurance fees and some expenses related to learning Chinese. However, you still can get the remaining amount.
You will receive your monthly scholarship around the 10th of each month (to be postponed to the next business day in case of holidays).
You can request to deduct a portion of the amount (such as monthly tuition fees, textbook costs, etc.) according to your needs.
Yes. You are required to pay a total of 30,000 New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) for the Quarterly Chinese Program.
However, you can use your monthly scholarship to pay the tuition fees in installments (approximately 10,000 NTD monthly).
You are required to pay for learning materials, and the cost depends on your class level.
You can purchase the books from the Chinese Language Center, an online bookstore, or an e-book website.
You do not need to pay for accommodation fees, but you will need to purchase bedding items such as a mattress, pillow, comforter, and other personal things you need.
Additionally, you may be responsible for covering dormitory management fees.
According to the laws governing study in Taiwan, unless you possess a Taiwan National Health Insurance card, you must pay for accident travel insurance yourself (typically priced at under NT$2,000).
If you have other documentation that proves you are exempt from paying this insurance, please inform the staff at the Chinese Language Center before you arrive in Taiwan.
The class will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
In the event of a natural disaster (e.g., a typhoon holiday) or a national holiday (e.g., National Day), classes will be canceled, and attendance will not be required.
You will receive a certificate of completion if you pass the exam and your attendance performance is under 1/4 of the total learning hours.
You will also have a free TOCFL screening test after you complete the Mandarin course.
The "Hand in Hand" Internship is a collaborative project with Taiwanese junior high and elementary schools. It aims to leverage Huayu B.E.S.T. scholarship program participants' English and Chinese language skills to assist Taiwanese junior high and elementary school students in their learning.
The Huayu B.E.S.T. scholarship program participants can earn a stipend by joining this internship, depending on their working hours.
The primary job responsibilities fall into four categories: English course assistants, school event coordinators, school event companions, and homestay activity participants.

Transportation (Depends on the destination):
