My publications develop a long-term sociological inquiry into collective action, democratic participation, and social change, with particular attention to consumption practices, sustainability, and food systems as privileged arenas through which broader transformations of capitalism, governance, and citizenship can be observed. Across books, journal articles, and edited volumes, my work combines theoretical reflection with empirical research, often grounded in comparative and participatory approaches.
I am the author and editor of several books that have contributed to international debates on political consumerism, alternative economies, and sustainable food systems. More recent works include Digital Food Provisioning in Times of Multiple Crises (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024, co-edited), which examines how digitalisation reshapes food practices, learning processes, and inequalities in times of polycrisis, and earlier monographs such as Il consumo critico (Il Mulino, 2016), which has become a key reference in the Italian debate on ethical consumption and civic engagement. My publications also include edited volumes on sustainable community movements, solidarity economies, and food systems, published by international academic presses.
My journal articles have appeared in leading international outlets in sociology, political sociology, and consumption studies, including The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Journal of Consumer Culture, European Societies, South European Society and Politics, British Food Journal, Food Policy, Sustainable Production and Consumption, Agriculture and Human Values, and Consumption and Society. Through these contributions, I have explored themes such as political consumerism, food democracy, alternative food networks, digital platforms, and the role of grassroots initiatives in sustainability transitions.
Alongside journal articles, I have contributed chapters to edited volumes and handbooks published by Oxford University Press, Wiley-Blackwell, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Edward Elgar, and Zed Books, often bridging sociological theory with policy-relevant and practice-oriented perspectives. Many of these contributions reflect my engagement in European and national research projects and my commitment to knowledge exchange beyond academia.
Taken together, my publications aim to advance a sociological understanding of sustainability and democracy that is empirically grounded, theoretically informed, and attentive to everyday practices as sites of political and social innovation.
