Workshop Goals / Learning Objectives

  • Learn how we can:

    • Decrease the likelihood that students will be dishonest

    • Minimize cheating without exacerbating inequities brought on by differential access to technology

    • Motivate students to prioritize learning over cheating

    • Make sure courses are still rigorous if we change the type of assessments we use

There is a lot to consider when moving to remote assessments. Most of us need to transform assessments, adjust expectations, and/or consider many factors in administering exams. This guide provides a list of remote alternatives to in-person assessment, as well as how to implement them into your course.

In addition to the first few pages on how to Adapt the exam format to decrease academic dishonesty, we just added a section describing reasons that students are tempted to cheat and strategies to address this. Thanks to CAT Director Adrienne Lavine for these valuable additions!
