What: Establish a three-member guidance committee and minor field

When:
For students entering Fall 2013 and after: The two-part exam is administered by the Department and given mid-Spring of the student’s second year. Form 2 will be give to students by the SAO after the results of the exam are released.
For students entering before Fall 2013: Exam is usually taken after completion of the minor exam. Usually by the end of the third year (9 quarters). Must submit Form 1 first.

What: Report on completion of the oral qualifying exam (proposal defense) and advancement to candidacy (ATC)

What: Report on the final oral qualifying exam (dissertation defense)
When: Final oral dissertation defense
Obtain: See Student Affairs Officer before defense to get form
Submit to: Student Affairs Officer. DO NOT SUBMIT TO GRADUATE DIVISION.
What: File dissertation with the university. The submission of a dissertation is the last step in a program leading to the award of a graduate degree.
When: By filing deadline. If you intend to participate in in Commencement, you must file by June 1.
