Doctoral students must submit a set of forms in order to progress in the program.
Students should enroll in the following courses under their advisor/Doctoral Committee Chair when preparing for their exams and writing their dissertation:
Preparing for Written and/or Oral Qualifying Exams: COM HLT 597, "Preparation for Doctoral Qualifying Examinations". This is a 2 to 12 unit course. Grading is on satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis.
Writing Dissertation: Only students who have advanced to candidacy (passed their proposal defense) should enroll in COM HLT 599, "Doctoral Dissertation Research". This is a 2 to 12 unit course. Grading is on satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Students who have not advanced must not enroll in a 599.
