TROUBLESHOOTING AND TIPS
Availability: MySlice is scheduled to be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The Information Technology Services (ITS) help line is available during regular University business hours at 315-443-2677 or email help@syr.edu.
NetID and Password: You must have an active NetID and password to use MySlice. You only need to activate your NetID one time.
The NetID are the characters that start your syr.edu email... My email is cjenn101@syr.edu and my NetID is cjenn101.
Common Registration Error Messages
NOTE:
Faculty abroad do not provide permission for courses during registration as they may on campus.
Do not reach out to faculty abroad!
Here are some others:
Error Message: Requisite not met for class, not enrolled.
Explanation: You have not met the requirements (pre-req, class standing, etc.) to enroll in the specified class.
Resolution: Select another class. If you can demonstrate that you have the background required for the class and should be allowed to register, contact cjenn101@syr.edu.
Error Message: Enrollment in Courses in Career: Graduates are normally not allowed for those in Career: Undergraduate.
Explanation: UGRD trying to register for grad level class / GRAD trying to register for undergraduate level class
Resolution: Contact cjenn101@syr.edu to find out if you are eligible for this class.
Error Message: Hold on student’s record, add not processed
Explanation: There is a hold on your record preventing registration
Resolution: Go to MySlice > Enrollment > Holds for information about the hold, including who to reach out to for instructions on how to clear the hold. All holds must be resolved before you can register.
Error Message: Maximum term student unit load exceeded
Explanation: UGRAD = trying to register for more than 17 credits; GRAD = trying to register for more than 15 credits
Resolution: Contact cjenn101@syr.edu. Students are eligible to take up to 19 credits. In certain cases (because of Audit or with Permission from the Honors Program), an override up to 21 credits may be granted.
Error Message: No valid appointment found and open enrollment period has not begun
Explanation: You are trying to register before your appointment starts or during a time period when the system is not available for registration.
Resolution: Contact cjenn101@syr.edu (only if attempting to access during online registration).
Error Message: Permission number entered is not valid
Explanation: Student Specific permission = permission expired
Resolution: Contact cjenn101@syr.edu for clarification on permission status.
Error Message: Student already enrolled in class, add not processed
Explanation: Course already on your schedule
Resolution: Check class number(s)
Error Message: Student not enrolled; class is full.
Explanation: The class has reached capacity.
Resolution: Select another class. Use the Academic Need Verification Form only if you need this specific course this semester in order to graduate on time.
Error Message: Student not enrolled; class full or restricted
Explanation: The class is closed OR you do not meet class requirements
Resolution: Select another class. Use the Academic Need Verification Form only if you meet the class requirements AND need this specific course this semester in order to graduate on time.
Error Message: Student not enrolled, student needs permission to enroll in this class
Explanation: The class is closed or restricted.
Resolution: Select another class. You request permission to enroll in the class by contacting cjenn101@syr.edu.
