The Department of Defense sponsors the ASVAB CEP with a two part mission: to provide a career exploration service to American youth and provide qualified leads to Military recruiters. Participants have no obligation to talk to a Military recruiter or enter Military service. However, students in 11th grade and beyond can use their scores to consider enlistment.
RISD provides two opportunities to take the ASVAB Career Exploration Test. Tests are given once in the Fall and the Spring semesters.
After completing the ASVAB test, students attend a Post-Test Interpretation (PTI) session as an essential next step in their ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) journey. This session provides a detailed explanation of their ASVAB scores, which includes interactive demonstrations to help them connect their results to potential career paths.
STEP 3: GUIDED CAREER EXPLORATION
After the PTI session, students receive support in exploring their career options. For two years, they can access their ASVAB scores and the resources of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. This enables students to continue to gather information and adjust their career plans over time. By utilizing the FYI, OCCU-Find, and ASVAB CEP Career Planning tools, students can be confident that they are well-prepared to navigate their chosen career pathways successfully.
