'Studying music at QE was more rewarding than I could have imagined, and there is no doubt that I am now a far better musician than I would have been had I studied elsewhere. Simon and Steve were both very supportive, and provided two different points of view on performance and composition. Also, Simon is extremely good at teaching score analysis, and his specific expertise on Baroque music provided deeper insight in the Baroque unit than I could possibly have expected.'

'I really enjoyed my time at the QE Music department. The music teachers are very friendly and welcoming, and know a great deal about their subject. I went on to study music performance as a BA and then Master's. QE really helped me with my performing and there were always spaces available for me to practice my instrument (drum kit). The course also taught me musical knowledge such as composing, harmony, analysis and history. This has all come in useful as I am now a professional musician and teacher myself. I also really enjoyed performing in the ensembles such as the Big Band and Choir, who performed regular concerts. I would recommend anyone who wishes to improve their musical knowledge to take this course. This department has a really fun and open environment, which is perfect as I believe music to be a very social subject.'

'Music A-Level at QE is excellent and I am very pleased that I chose it as one of my A-Levels. It is a friendly and supportive department, the teaching is good and staff are always happy to help. The course is well planned out with interesting lessons, covering history of music, composition and analysing pieces. The music groups at QE are also good. I particularly enjoy Big Band but it is good to work with other students in the orchestra. It's not just music students in the groups so it also helps you to meet other students at QE. I highly recommend Music A-Level.'

'A-Level Music is a very enjoyable and rewarding subject. It's presented in a way that is interesting, and it's a very satisfying subject overall. Simon and Steve are both awesome - I don't think there's anyone more qualified than them to do what they do.

The extra-curricular activities offered at QE too are outstanding. I play in the orchestra, big band and rock choir and each, when I come to it, are the highlight of my day. Music was one of the few reasons I came to QE, and now I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!'

'Studying A-Level Music is undoubtedly challenging but extrememly rewarding. QE prides itself in its music department and they hold fantastic opportunties for their students: going on tour, making CDs, workshops with external professionals and enjoyable concerts to showcase the ensembles. Whilst being a vast subject, music has many transferable skills, such as critical thinking and discipline! Whether you're thinking of studying music at higher education or you want to keep it as a hobby I highly recommend taking A-Level Music.'
