“blimey! Lucretia” responds to the centrepiece of The Power and the Virtue: Guido Reni’s Death of Lucretia exhibition, which took place at The Bowes Museum in 2019.
Working in partnership with the museum and Creative Darlington on a series of communal gatherings and events, “blimey! Lucretia” explored ideas about the painting. Paying homage to Judy Chicago’s 20th century seminal feminist work “The Dinner Party”, “blimey! Lucretia” offered people a seat at Lucretia’s table, to spark conversations about the representation of women in our changing world.

The project was part of a re-generation of the Yards, encouraging the footfall and bringing customers to the retail outlets and shops in the Yards.
Art in the Yards
The work is still intact and each student has a plaque to commemorate their input.
QE Students worked with NADFAS, now called The Northern Art's Society, to create some exciting collaborations such as the Big Draw, host and attend their Specialist Lecture Series, take a trip to London to see the Turner Prize, attend creative conferences in Tate Britain, host and collaborate in the Picasso at Play exhibition!
