Grade: 9, 10, 11
Title: Preparing for parent conferences
Objective: Students will schedule their conference
ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors Standard (s): M 4: The understanding of lifelong learning are necessary for long term career success.
Materials:
Spring Conference Sign Up Link (please include students first and last name)
Procedures- Part I:
Please work with each one of your students on scheduling their conference time.
If they need a translator, make sure to schedule that time in this link Translator Sign Up
Please strongly emphasize to parents to visit with all teachers where the students is not performing well
Please reach out to any students parents that you have in class that are failing (or close to) and/or that you have behavior concerns about to encourage them to meet with you.
Post your schedule for both nights so parents can easily see when you are available.
If students need DMACC Registration form on conference night, please advise them to stop by DMACC's informational table in the commons.
Part II:
Topic Area: Personal Values as they Relate to Career
Objective: Students will learn about their personal values as they relate to career.
ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors Standard (s): M 5: Belief in using abilities to their fullest to achieve high-quality results and outcomes.
Materials:
Student Laptops
Procedures:
1. Students will log into their laptops and go to (it might be easiest to have them go to the Connections website and click on link below) :
2. Click on take the Free Assessment. (it will send you to a "Redirect Notice" page, just which on the first suggested link and take the quiz)
3. Answer the questions & receive scores.
4. Students will read through their scores and share 1-2 things they learned about themselves with a shoulder partner.
5. Students may also share with the class one thing they learn if time allows.
