When you attend an international conference and you have gotten in, you can apply for funding from our 文學院 and from the MOST. These days, it is better to apply for that of MOST because you can get more.
Most of the steps are shown clearly on the MOST website: most.gov.tw .
You have to make an account and you can start applying, under the tab ‘Applied Plans’ 「學術獎補助申請及查詢」 > ‘Master’s Student’ (even though you may be a PhD student) 「碩士生線上申辦項目」 > ‘補助國內研究生參與國際學術會議’.
What they will cover: flight expenses and registration, up to a certain amount.
When to apply: the deadline set by the MOST is at least one month before your conference, but NTU sends out applications every first day of a month, you might need to apply almost two months in extreme cases. An example: your conference is 21 November, then you should apply 1 month before (21 October), before the first of that month (1 October). So you should make sure you have sent everything before 1 October.
Documents you need to provide:
· Reference letter by advisor
· Acceptance mail from conference
· Draft of the paper you are presenting (also best to have a paper when you are doing a poster)
Documents they want from you after you got it:
· Original flight tickets
· Proof of payments (best in NTD)
· Proof of attendance
· Short report on the conference (“It was amazing, I learnt so much”)
