What is ARISE?
ARISE is an arts-based programme that aims to introduce an arts-based pedagogy which incorporates methods based on artistic processes to teach and learn, in theory and practice.
ARISE (Arts for Resilience, Innovative/Adaptive Thinking, Socio-emotional well-being, and (self/collective) Efficacy) is a unique pedagogy that aims to create aesthetic experiences in varying learning contexts and conditions through going and undergoing artistic processes, arts engagement and aesthetically-infused inquiry.
In our proposed ARISE pedagogy, we seek to bring out the inherent personal and collective meaning-making effects of the arts on 21st century competencies through the design of learning environments that are purely arts-based, meaning, capitalizing on artistic processes such as studio thinking of develop craft, engage and persist, envision, express, observe, reflect, stretch and explore, or informal learning based on individual material choice, aural learning, collaborative learning, improvising, and performing to bring about aesthetic experience.
Students will get to experience:
Community Music-making - choosing found objects, creating haikus, designing personal badges
Mandala drawing & coloring - Drawing and coloring of mandalas (of mindfulness, growth, resilience) through patterns, doodles and scribbles
