What is the AI Hackathon?
The Young Tembusu AI Hackathon is (part of) NIE’s inaugural Tembusu programme where students are invited to the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University campus (NTU) of a three-day learning event.
The AI-coding hackathon provides an innovative learning space where students can tackle real-world problems with cutting-edge computer coding technology and design thinking. Students will explore learning in a knowledge-building community, investigating their inquiries, exploring possibilities, improving upon their ideas, and cultivating their self-discipline skills.
During the three days, students will learn how to code with Artificial Intelligence from NIE’s research scientists to create solutions to solve real-world social issues in the community that are close to their hearts.
Participating students’ learning process will be captured by video and audio to understand how they learn in the community. Pre-post Survey will be used to understand their perception changes of the KB and AI coding capacities. Students’ profile will capture their reflections and designs, and final learning products will be used to understand their idea improvement progress.
Students will have opportunities
to experience an innovative learning space to cultivate their technical and design thinking skills to better prepare for future challenges
to learn knowledge building collaborative thinking skills as he/she brainstorm and engage in creative learning processes to address real-world problems in the community.
will receive a learning portfolio that documents his/her learning journey throughout the 3 days of event.
The learning portfolio will include in the students’ personal organised portfolio that showcases his/her learning, design, reflection, and achievements beyond school.
