What is a Desktop Recording?
A desktop recording occurs when you create a video of all of the computer screen (including webcams) and audio activity on your computer. Desktop recording can use to produce Voice-over-PowerPoint (VOP) online lectures.
Why would I use Desktop Recording?
Why would I use Desktop Recording?
Desktop recordings used to create video tutorials for your classes, an introduction to your course, a mini-lecture on a specific topic using a PowerPoint presentation with voiceover, or demonstrations of how to use a software program. Desktop recordings may be a component of your flipped classroom. The didactic lectures are moved online (using a desktop recording) with the class time spent on student-centered learning activities.
Desktop recordings may also be used as an alternative to Lecture Theatre Recording when your teaching space is not fitted with equipment to record lectures.
Take note: NIE adopted Kaltura to provide video streaming services for NTULearn and NIE Video Portal. As a faculty member, you will be given a private repository called My Media, to store and share your videos. Videos recorded using Kaltura Capture will upload instantly to My Media linked to both NTULearn and NIE Video Portal.

With Microsoft PowerPoint, you can insert video and audio to your presentation slides. Additionally, with PowerPoint 2016 and above, you can record the presentation slides with talking head video to be inserted into your slides directly.
