The school year is almost over and everyone is ready to hit the beach!  While summer can be filled with family trips, fun activities, and lazy days, it is important to remember that the “summer slide” for students is very real.  

Students who do not read over the summer months are at risk of losing academic skills they achieved during the school year.  Reading over the summer will help students retain knowledge and skills from the previous school year, and can also help develop new skills and knowledge.

Participate in our Horry County Schools summer reading program called READCamp: Once Upon a Summer Reading from May 25 - September 7, 2026, and you will join in a celebration in the 2026 - 2027 school year if you become a READCamp Champion or MVP!
