Archilbald Rutledge Scholarship Program
Deadline: February 2, 2026- Amount of scholarship $2,000
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is announcing the Archibald Rutledge Scholarship Program. This annual program offers twelfth-grade students in South Carolina’s public schools the opportunity to compete for a scholarship valued at approximately $2,000. The purpose of the competition is to encourage and recognize academic and artistic excellence in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.
Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. or postmarked on or before Monday, February 2, 2026. Send applications to the SCDE c/o Roger Simpson, 1429 Senate Street, Suite 607-A, Columbia, SC, 29201. Please see the attached applications for additional submission guidelines for each respective arts area. Applications are also available on the SCDE website.
Panels of adjudicators will review submissions and select a winner and two alternates for each arts area. Adjudicators will base their selections on individual arts discipline criteria and the correlation of the process folio to the finished work.

Horry County Solid Waste Authority Scholarship
Deadline: February 6, 2026-Amount of scholarship $1,000
Every year, the Horry County Solid Waste Authority (SWA) awards one graduating high school senior from each high school a one-time $1,000 scholarship to encourage students pursuing a degree related to the environment, which supports SWA’s mission of Protecting Tomorrow’s Environment Today. To ensure that your application is reviewed and processed as quickly and accurately as possible, please read and follow these procedures and requirements as written: Procedures:
All applicants must:
• Complete the application and answer the essay personally.
• Enclose only the items requested in the requirements.
• Include on each attachment the applicant’s name and address.
• Submit all attachments with the application form to ensure that all items are available for review at the same time.
• Send completed application to: Horry County Solid Waste Authority, Attn: Public Education, P.O. Box 1664, Conway, SC 29528-1664. Faxes or emails will not be accepted.
• Deadline: Be advised that only those applications postmarked on or before February 6, 2026 will be considered.

Eligibility Requirements
All applicants must:
1. Be a graduating high school senior, attending a public school in Horry County.
2. Resident of Horry County (for at least one year).
3. Pursuing a degree related to the environment, public education, waste management or health promotions field.
4. Enrolled as a fulltime student for Fall 2026. (Documentation of acceptance into a higher education institution is required).
5. Submit application that is postmarked on or before February 6, 2026. Late applications will not be considered. Please use sufficient postage.
6. Provide a transcript of high school grades covering a minimum of six semesters. (The transcript need not be “official” and may be a photocopy.)
7. Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
8. Provide one signed letter of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, civic leader, or church leader who knows the applicant personally. (Endorsements from parents will not be accepted)

2026 Journalism Contest
Deadline: February 6, 2025-Amount of scholarship varies
The winner of the 2026 Journalism Contest receives a four-year scholarship to the South Carolina state-supported institution of his or her choice provided, of course, that the winner is otherwise qualified.
The scholarship pays for undergraduate tuition and fees. Each institution has its own definition of tuition and fees. The winner must be able to verify financial need (such as qualifying for a direct subsidized federal student loan) to the chosen state-supported institution, which typically requires completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Colleges and universities recommend that students in financial need complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 of the year they will enroll to establish eligibility for student aid. This may require providing income tax return information. The FAFSA is available at https://studentaid.gov/.
The scholarship may be canceled if the recipient does not maintain general scholastic and conduct standards established by the institution.
To be eligible for the contest, you:
• must be a South Carolinian 16 to 19 years old;
• must not have entered a post-secondary school before March 1, 2026; and
• must be a high school senior, or otherwise qualified to begin post-secondary education no later than the 2026-2027 school year.

FRS Scholarship Program
Deadline: February 14, 2026-Amount of scholarship $2,000
Being a member of the NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association means HTC also supports the Foundation For Rural Service (FRS). In particular, we are a conduit for the FRS’ Youth Programs. FRS provides scholarships, a Youth Tour, and a number of other programs to help invest in the next generation of leaders and citizens.
The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship Program annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible.
This year, HTC is assisting in taking applications for the FRS Scholarship program. Each scholarship is valued at $2,000, and funds can be used to cover expenses related to attending a two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. As the telecommunications service provider for Horry, Georgetown, and Marion counties, HTC will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship if a student from our area is selected to receive the award, bringing the total scholarship to $2,500.
Eligible students must:
Have a parent or guardian that is an HTC Member
Be a graduating high school senior.
Be a United States citizen.
Be sponsored by a current NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association member.
Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Have at least a C grade point average (GPA).
Express an interest in returning to a rural community following graduation.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship - High School Seniors

The PC Promise: A Full Tuition Scholarship for students to attend Presbyterian College.
Deadline: February 15, 2026
The PC Promise is a partnership between Presbyterian College and First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach that provides 2 tuition-free scholarships each academic year.
Each year the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach pledges financial support which will enable deserving students to attend Presbyterian College.
Each scholarship is renewable for four years. The student (or family) would only be responsible for room, board, and fees. In addition, this non-tuition amount (room, board and fees) remains constant at the first year’s rate.
In short, students awarded these scholarships will receive over three-fourths of the total cost to attend this outstanding school.

Fred M. Young Sr. Engineering Scholarship

The Young Radiator Co. established this scholarship in memory of the company's founder, Fred M. Young Sr. who started the company in 1927 and saw it grow to become a major force in the field of heat transfer. He had a high regard for the value of engineering in terms of its contribution to the success of society and the future engineering workforce, which is supported through this scholarship.

Annual Journalism Contest

The Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities offers an annual journalism contest, the winner of which receives a 4-year scholarship to the South Carolina state-supported institution of his or her choice, provided that the winner is otherwise qualified. The contest is open to high school seniors, or those otherwise qualified to begin post-secondary education no later than the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants do NOT have to have a disability to enter. Entries must be postmarked no later than February 7, 2025.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Scholarships

KFC REACH Educational Grant Program
Deadline: February 17, 2025-Amount of scholarship-$2500
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school senior or a high school graduate or equivalent.
B) Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and enrolled either full-time or part-time in the 2021 fall term at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or trade/vocational school.

Injured Individual Scholarship
Deadline: February 28, 2025-Amount of scholarship $1,000
For this scholarship, please discuss why you think it is important to support injury victims. If you have a specific personal experience you are comfortable sharing, please tell us about it. Feel free to discuss the physical and psychological effects suffered by an injury victim as well as how the victim's injury can affect family and loved ones and how a solid support network can assist someone through a difficult time.
Eligibility
A) This scholarship is open to current high school seniors, college students and graduate students who are legal residents within the United States and who are enrolled in a two to five-year post-secondary institution for the 2024 fall semester.
B) Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.
Application Materials
A) Applicants must submit a 750-1,000 word essay discussing why it is important to support injury victims
B) Applicants must submit a professional resumé that lists their experiences and includes updated contact information
C) Applicants must submit a transcript for their current school. Students may include an unofficial transcript from their school if they will be attending the same school in the fall term. High school students should also include proof of acceptance to their post-secondary institution, if known.
D) The scholarship winner will be chosen during the month following the scholarship deadline and awarded with $1,000 for their education.
