Spanish I


Credit: 1 Unit


Prerequisite: None 


Provides instruction and practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing basic academic and conversational Spanish. The main focus at this level will be speaking and reading in the target language, Spanish. A variety of language topics ranging from greetings, school, hobbies , foods and family will be explored. Culture is a part of language and will be integrated into each unit 


Spanish II


Credit: 1 Unit


Prerequisite: Level I


This course continues the instruction and practice started in Level 1 Spanish. Students will

continue listening, speaking, reading, and writing advanced beginners or low intermediate level

in the language. Grammatical instruction will include expressing oneself in the

preterite,imperfect, and future tenses; as well as the subjunctive mood. A variety of practical

language topics from art to travel will be explored.


IB Spanish Ab initio


Credit: 1 Unit / IB Exam


Prerequisite: Level 2


Native/Heritage Speakers: Schedule with Guidance

Spanish ab initio (“from the beginning” in Latin) This fast-paced class is designed for students in

the IB Program. It develops their ability to communicate in listening, speaking, reading, and

writing skills equally but at an advanced level. Students learn to cope with familiar and practical

needs. This course at Aynor High is equivalent to Level 3 Spanish at its conclusion and prepares

the candidate for the IB Examination. It is recommended that the student have at least two levels

of Spanish, unless a heritage or native speaker of the language.
