The learning target should also be in alignment with WHAT students will be assessed on to show their learning and knowledge of a skill.
“Your purpose today is to understand the functions of Wernicke’s area and Broca’s area on speech and language, and relate them to specific aphasis.”
“I can add 2-digit numbers within 100.”
This can be done through checklists, step-by-step directions, options, choices, or clear strategies utilized to reach the learning target. This is where students determine how they will demonstrate success of the learning target. This should also be in alignment with the assessments teachers are using to assess student learning.
