5th Grade Warmup!
To perform this activity, every student gets 2 sticks from the brown box under the desk by the whiteboard.
Good luck! This one is challenging and you may see some rhythms you forgot how to play!
This is the famous scene from the classic movie The Sound of Music where Maria (played by Julie Andrews, now 80 years old) sings to 7 kids how to sing the whole scale using all the solfege hand signs we've learned.
When she and the kids sing the note names (do, re, mi...) use the hand signs with them.
Everyone gets 1 scarf, any color, from the bin. Stand up, spread out, follow along.
Instruments of the Orchestra Listening Quiz.
Click the YouTube link to watch it. (It won't allow me to put it on my page.)
Instrument Jingo!
TEACHER NOTE: Kids can play one bingo game, neither, or both. But only the Rhythm Bingo game is worth a smellie for the winner.
Rhythm Bingo
Watch these 5th graders perform "Street Song" by composer Carl Orff. The Tom Green Orffestra may one day play a song like this!
Mr. Pace is my actual music teacher friend from Buda Elementary. He's going to help you practice improvising and reading rhythms you already know.
