3rd Grade Warmup!
Mr. Pace is my actual music teacher friend at Buda Elementary. He's VERY silly and loves to tell stories and make sound effects. The story of "Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Waggle" is one of my favorites. Follow his directions.
Everyone gets 1 boomwhacker from under the brown table.
TEACHER: Please make sure they're all as evenly distributed as possible. They can line themselves up to the boomwhackers on the screen.
You should definitely recognize this song. Follow the body percussion. If you can't snap, just pretend.
Instruments of the Orchestra Listening Quiz.
Click the YouTube link to watch it. (It won't allow me to put it on my page.)
Can you tell which songs have a beat and which ones don't? 👀
Watch these 5th graders play "Street Song" by composer Carl Orff. The Tom Green Orffestra is named after him.
Rhythm Bingo! Play this bingo game to earn a smellie!
SPECIAL NOTE TO THE SUB:
The bingo games provided are optional activities. The kids don't have to play them. Or they can play one or both.
Instrument "Jingo!" - This is just for fun. No smellie to earn. Too easy!
Frere Jacques is the French name for the song Are You Sleeping. Sing it in English and pick a ball to follow along.
Up to 3 drummers can be on the drums to keep the beat and up to 4 people can be on the bass xylophones and bass bars to play C1 & G5:
Are you sleeping 2x
Brother John? 2x
Morning bells are ringing 2x
Ding, ding, dong 2x
