Although Lanier’s film program’s first year was 2014-15 the program’s foundation was created in 2015-16 and Thomas Harmond was a keystone to that foundation. With two cameras and one light he led his classmates to develop what would become the most acclaimed program at Lanier Productions, [We Are Lanier]. With those two cameras, a lavalier mic, and one light they went on to create the first episode highlighting Lanier’s Principal Dr. Reuben Gresham. This film would earn national recognition becoming an Official Selection in the All-American High School Film Festival! Using this as a demonstration of what students can do with limited resources, Lanier Advisor David Rhines worked with MTI Baths and secured a grant that helped the program grow immensely. During his Senior year Thomas worked with 2019 graduate Andy Cole to create a 1-Minute Promo about Lanier, which they entered into the NATAS: Emmy Awards and received a nomination and was recognized at the professional level! After graduating Thomas would go on to attend Alphacrucis College in Sydney, Australia and Fuller Theological Seminary. Thomas is currently working at Good Shepherd Church as the Audio & Video Lighting Manager, Ministry resident, and is doing his own tech startup.
Andy entered Lanier’s Film Program in the fall of 2015 with a passion for telling stories and knowing he wanted to become a journalist. In his freshman year, Andy and his friends volunteered their mornings to create a daily news show, Lanier This Morning. In his Sophomore year he continued his post as the Face of the program anchoring Lanier This Morning and helped kick off the most successful program in Lanier’s History [We Are Lanier]. As a junior and senior, he went on to work for GCPS TV spotlighting the Good News happening in the county. Andy received many accolades during his time and received 2 NATAS: Student Production Awards. As a Junior, Andy produced a 1-Minute promo and submitted it to the NATAS: Emmy Awards and received a nomination proving you can create professional level content even as a High School student. After graduating in 2019, Andy went on to attend Georgia Southern University where again helped kick off a young film program. Her work ethic was unmatched by her peers and her passion was infectious. With her passion and talent in graphic design she helped revamp Lanier This Morning.
