The video program at Lanier High School began in 2014-15 school year under the direction of Keith Phillips. In the following school year the students were tasked to develop a name and logo for the program and Lanier Productions was born. Over the course of its existence the program has received national recognition from the Student Television Network (STN), NATAS: Student Production Awards, the same organization that does the Emmies, as well as the All American High School Film Festival that is held in NYC every October.
In 2022, GCPS gave schools to have an Official YouTube Channel. Lanier took advantage of this opportunity and created the Lanier High Network with the primary purpose of helping the community stay informed with events at the High School. Content includes our weekly school news show, informational videos, documentaries, and journalism videos made by students in the program and the Lanier Productions Club.

In the summer of 2019 Mr. Phillips participated in the Georgia Film Academy training for teachers and in the 2019-20 school year Lanier Productions implemented the curriculum provided from the training. With the GFA Curriculum students learn about all the departments and job roles on a film set as well as film set etiquette. After learning about all the facets of the industry students apply the procedures and protocols to their film projects. This enables them to build their career portfolio and puts them in a strong position for various opportunities should they decide to continue their film career after graduating High School. There are many different ways to pursue a career in film in the state of Georgia, but the Georgia Film Academy is the main pathway for those interested in working in television and film.
