For this project, the requirements given are to develop a car that can run using the force of a mouse trap alone; the goal is for the car to run for twelve feet. There were no limits to the materials we could use; as long as we can provide the materials for your team. Each team includes three students, completely randomized. Using the calculations that are given before the project, each team will have to determine the length of the string and the radius of the axle for the small vehicle to reach exactly twelve feet.
The color and the decoration are inspired by the character Springtrap from the game Five Nights at Freddy's. This is also our decided team name from the start. The original color of the character is green, and the brownish color was added to represent the rust on the character's suit.
At first, when we drew the layout, we decided to only use a single wheel for our back wheel because the balance of the car wouldn't change. But there was an unseen problem that we didn't recognize - if we were to use one wheel, there wouldn't be any space for the string to be tied into. So we scrapped the idea and went with a classic design instead, using four wheels.
Our very first car wasn't the best. It was too small, and we couldn't decide on a material to use for the wheel. After wasting our time until the near deadline, we decided to schedule a day to work on a new mousetrap car with proper measurements and plans. The result was more than just satisfaction.
