Books are a great way to start discussing social situations and emotional wellness with your Falcons, as well as a great way to keep up with literacy at home! Reading for just 20 minutes a day exposes your Falcon to almost 2 million words per year and over 850 reading hours between kindergarten and 6th grade, according to The Children's Reading Foundation.
Check out these books to dedicate time and discussion to each of CASEL's 5 Core Competencies of Social Emotional Learning!

Setting goals for Social and Emotional Learning is just as important as having goals for reading, writing, math or any other skill! Think about what your Falcons need to work on, or what you want to work on as a family, and set a SMART Goal!
Your goal should be SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, RELEVANT and TIMELY! Use the Family Goal Setting Sheet to help you set a Family SMART Goal and reflect on it later!
Work on achieving your family goal in fun ways! Set up a family competition, like an ongoing Family BINGO game, to encourage your Falcons to practice SEL skills! BINGO BAKER is free and you can add any tasks your family needs. OR, check out the pre-made SEL BING Board and simply print!
