• Lyon County Area Transportation (LCAT)

  • LCAT is the county's public transportation or bus system with a stop on Emporia State University's campus in front of Plumb Hall. Students can ride the L-CAT to more than two dozen locations, including several area grocery stores. Rides within city limits cost $1.50 each way. Day passes can also be purchased. Passes can be purchased from any driver or at the LCAT office at 402 Commercial Street in Emporia. Cash or check is accepted.

  • LCAT also offers an express route from ESU in front of Plumb Hall to Walmart during the week, Monday through Friday. The LCAT leaves Plumb at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. The LCAT leaves Walmart back to ESU at 2:35 p.m., 3:35 p.m., and 4:35 p.m.

  • LCAT does offer regional transportation outside of Lyon County with a two-week notice. Costs range from $25 and up per round trip. Call 620-343-4207 to learn more.

• East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation (ECKAN)

• ECKAN offers LCAT passes for those who are income-eligible while supplies last. Contact ECKAN at (620) 342-4607.
