Campus Health Resources

  • Student Wellness Center Health Services

    • The Student Wellness Center provides services to all enrolled ESU Students. Patient visits are with a nurse practitioner or physician. Students can schedule an appointment using the online patient portal.

    • The center accepts most major insurance providers, as well as the student health plan, so please bring your health insurance card (or upload a copy here) with you to your appointments. Students who are taking classes on campus, pay on-campus activity fees, and have insurance will not have to pay more than $10 per provider office visit if their insurance does not cover the entire amount. There may be additional charges for pharmacy and laboratory services if needed.   • Counseling Services

    • Counseling Services are provided to ESU students in person or virtually. Students can meet with a counselor by making an appointment online, calling 620-341-5222, or walking up to the front desk at 250 Morse Hall Southeast.

    • Students can access a brief Same Day Solutions Session. This new offering for students is available Monday through Thursday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Fridays between noon and 3 p.m. Students can schedule by calling 620-341-5222 or walk in to the center for an appointment during these times.

    • Students can also take a stress and depression questionnaire and dialogue with a counselor anonymously at https://emporia.caresforyou.org/.

    • Five counseling sessions per semester are included in ESU student fees. Sessions over the 5 allocated per semester, have a $5 fee that can be sent to student accounts or paid in cash.

Medical & Dental

  • careArc

    • careArc, formerly Flint Hills Community Health, provides medical and dental support for those who are uninsured and/or low-income. The clinic, located at 420 W. 15th Ave in Emporia, provides walk-in services, same-day appointments, extended hours, in-house lab, immunizations, prescription assistance, free interpreter services (servicios de intérprete gratis), and free transportation in Lyon County.

    • careArc offers a sliding fee scale discount program, which means depending on your income level your services may be free or discounted. Call 620-342-4864 or request an appointment online.

  • The Jones Foundation

    • The Jones Foundation provides financial assistance for medical and dental services for children under age 21 who are U.S. citizens and who currently reside in Coffey, Lyon or Osage County, Kansas and have done so continuously for no less than one year immediately prior to application. Qualifying students can apply online for assistance with dental services, eye exams/glasses, general medical support, and orthodontics.

  • Free Clinics

    • Find a free clinic or community health center near you in the United States with the Free Clinic Directory. These clinics offer free or discounted rates to uninsured and/or low-income individuals.

  • CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness

    • CrossWinds provides prevention and support tools, educational resources, counseling and treatment options, and class offerings. To schedule an appointment call 620-343-2211 or request an appointment online. In the event of an after-hours emergency, call 620-343-2626.

    • CrossWinds accepts many different insurances. Uninsured clients may qualify for sliding scale fees based on household size and income. CrossWinds provides services to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income.
