Course Description: Technology Education provides an environment for middle school students
to be introduced to the various career options possible in a rapidly changing global industrial
climate. This year we are going to being introduced to many different aspects of computer
technology. This includes but is not limited to what makes a computer, software,
troubleshooting, etc.!
TEKS for Principles of Information Technology
Teaching Styles and Activities: Several teaching styles will be used throughout the semester
including lecture, working in small groups, working individually, and research assignments.
Required Materials:
Chromebook
Pencils
Recommended Materials:
Headphones or Ear Buds
Computer Mouse
Grade Scale: All assignments will be weighed as follows:
Major Summatives-70%
Minor Summatives-30%
Classroom Procedures: Get your materials, go to the restroom, and get a drink before coming to class.
Sharpen pencils and be seated before the tardy bell rings.
No one talks while Mr. Joice is addressing the class.
Written assignments and drawings will be placed in the correct drawer in the back of the
classroom with your name, date, and class period on the page.
When the bell rings, the classroom must be clean, and materials put away and push in your chairs before you leave.
Classroom Expectations:
· Be ready to work and learn when the bell rings.
· Bring all materials to class.
· Follow the safety procedures.
· Follow directions the first time they are given.
Consequences for not following the Classroom Expectations:
7th Grade:

8th Grade:
1. Warning
2. Parent Contact
3. Parent Contact and Wednesday Night Detention
