Principles of Applied Engineering Course Syllabus

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce and explore design through drawings, 3D computer aided design, automation, robotics, electricity, and electronics. Students will be required to learn how to properly and safely use the various machines, tools, and materials in the classroom to complete projects.

Teaching Styles and Activities: Several teaching styles will be used throughout the semester including lecture, working in small groups, working individually, and research assignments.
Required Materials:
Computer Mouse
Pencils
Recommended Materials:
Headphones or Ear Buds
Ruler
Grade Scale: All assignments will be weighed as follows:
Major Summatives-70%
Minor Summatives-30%
Classroom Procedures: Get your materials, go to the restroom, and get a drink before coming to class.
Sharpen pencils and be seated before the tardy bell rings.
No one talks while Mr. Joice is addressing the class.
Written assignments must have your name, the date, and the class period on the page.
Written assignments and drawings will be placed in the correct drawer at the front of the
classroom.
At the end of class, you are not dismissed by the bell. The classroom must be clean, and
materials put away.
Push in your chairs before you leave.
Classroom Expectations:
· Be ready to work and learn when the bell rings.
· Bring all materials to class.
· Follow the safety procedures.
· Follow directions the first time they are given.
