Principles of Applied Technology Course Syllabus

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce and explore electricity, electronics, nanotechnology, applied chemistry, and applied physics. Students will be required to learn how to properly and safely use the various machines, tools, and materials in the classroom in order to complete projects.
Teaching Styles and Activities: Several teaching styles will be used throughout the semester including lecture, working in small groups, working individually, and research assignments.
Required Materials:
Composition Book or Graph Ruled Book
Pencils
Recommended Materials:
Headphones or Ear Buds
Ruler
Grade Scale: All assignments will be weighed as follows:
Major Summatives-70%
Minor Summatives-30%
Classroom Procedures:
Get your materials, go to the restroom, and get a drink before coming to class.
Sharpen pencils and be seated before the tardy bell rings.
No one talks while I am.
Written assignments must have your name, the date, and the class period on the page.
Written assignments and drawings will be placed in the correct drawer at the front of the classroom.
At the end of class you are not dismissed by the bell. The classroom must be clean and materials put away.
Push in your chairs before you leave.
Classroom Expectations:
· Be ready to work and learn when the bell rings.
· Bring all materials to class.
· Follow the safety procedures.
· Follow directions the first time they are given.
Consequences for not following the Classroom Expectations:
1. Warning
2. A ticket will be taken
3. Detention and a phone call to your parents (after losing half of team tickets)
4. ISSC and an Office Referral (after losing all team tickets)
