The TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment, version 2) is a test that measures your skills in reading, writing, and math. Colleges in Texas use it to determine if you are ready for college-level courses or if you may need extra support in certain areas. Your scores help schools place you in the right classes so you have the best chance to succeed.
Most students who plan to attend college in Texas will need to take the TSIA2. This includes students enrolling in community colleges or public universities.
Some students may be exempt if they have qualifying scores on the SAT, ACT.
The college or university a student plans to attend ultimately determines if a student is exempt from the TSIA2. While the state provides guidelines for exemptions, such as qualifying SAT or ACT scores, each institution reviews a student’s records and decides whether they meet the exemption criteria.
