Instruct or remind your students to:

• Use technology in a positive, safe, and appropriate way.

• Treat the laptop with care- Keep the lid closed and use two hands when carrying it.  

• Follow directions- Only open programs or websites with permission.

• Asking for help- What is your classroom process if the student has an issue? What do they do if something is broken?

• Unit 1 focuses on identifying and locating letters on the screen and on the keyboard.  Home row and finger placement will not be focused on until Unit 2.  

• Students may see student friendly ads and need a reminder not to click these.

• The x button in the lesson will return the students to the previous menu.

• Clicking the microphone will turn the music on or off.

• This unit does not read the instructions to the student.

• Students may use the Unit 1 Student Lesson Tracker to mark their progress.

• Login to the computer and ClassLink.  Younger students can use QuickCards to scan in.

• Click on the TypeTastic! Icon.

• Click the image of the lesson.

• Look for the color orange to indicate where to start. *Students who do not complete the entire lesson and come back to it, will need to click on the next practice number.

• Each lesson has a slightly different format, so additional instruction may be needed prior to beginning a new lesson.
