This special team competes for a spot in the finals at Washington D.C., similar to the Academic team, by using their collective JROTC knowledge. The curriculum used in class is as well as general knowledge every cadet should know is used in the questions asked on the competition tests. Teams of four plus two alternates compete at a time.
This special team is based on problem solving and critical thinking. Cadets compete in the annual Academic Bowl using their JROTC Knowledge, Math, Reading Comprehension, and Science skills along with current world event knowledge. By competing in the first two rounds of the competition, the cadets that compete have the chance of participating in the final round which takes place in Washington D.C. Teams. Both teams consist of four cadets plus two alternates who compete at a time.
