Did you know that one layer of GT services is the core content classes? In order to better understand your GT students, methods of differentiation for the GT population, and how GT students are identified, all K-12 core teachers (math, science, social studies and language arts) are required to obtain 30 hours of foundational GT training as well as obtain 6 hours of GT coursework annually thereafter.
This 30 hours is been broken up into 5 Days with 5 separate course registrations. The topic for each day is set by the state of Texas:
Day 1: Nature and Needs
Day 2: Identification and Assessment of GT Students
Day 3: Curriculum and Instruction of GT Students
Day 4: Depth and Complexity
Day 5: Creativity in the Classroom
This course is only online, it does not physically meet in person. Each "Day" has different modules and quizzes attached. All activities and quizzes must be completed in order to earn credit for that day. Coursework will be graded once a month; after you submit a quiz, please allow 30 days for your attendance to be confirmed in KickUp. You do not need to wait for the previous course to be graded in order to proceed to the next course.
