Recommended Audience: Core Elementary Teachers
This course is intended for late hire elementary teachers who did not have the chance to attend Comal U. This course will guide you in where to find Comal ISD documents and resources. After this course you will understand how to effectively use district documents to plan instruction.
Credits: 1.5 hours
Required Audience: All New ELA/SS K-5 teachers
Participants will learn guiding principles behind ELA/SS instruction in Comal, and how to use Comal ISD
curriculum documents to lesson plan backwards using TEKS, unit maps, and unit assessments to enhance
student centered learning and progress monitoring. Come learn the Comal way!
Credits: 1.5 hours
Required Audience: All New ELA K-5 teachers
This course is designed to take you through Comal ISD's tool, Writable, and help you discover how you can use this platform.
*Note, you will need an HMH account to be able to access the materials.

Required Audience: All New K-2 teachers
This course is required for ALL New K-2 teachers. This is an asynchronous 3-hour training session to develop an understanding of the different assessed literacy components within mClass, our district's literacy and dyslexia screener. Teachers will complete the self-paced online modules through the Amplify website. Completion of this course is required prior to the start of the assessment testing window.
(New Elementary CICs and ERI teachers will need to take this course in order to provide added support for K-2 teachers.)

Required Audience: ALL New Dual Language K-2 teachers
This course is required for ALL New Dual Language K-2 teachers. This is an asynchronous 3-hour training session to develop an understanding of the different assessed literacy components within mClass LECTURA, our district's literacy and dyslexia screener. Dual Language teachers will complete the self-paced online modules through the Amplify website. Completion of the Spanish AND English modules is required prior to the start of the assessment testing window. Attendance will be confirmed when the Certificate of Completion has been uploaded to the Campus Folder in Drive.

Required Audience: K-5 Math Teachers
In this session, participants will build an understanding of Kiddom and the pedagogy behind it. Educators will explore how to access and navigate the Kiddom curriculum through a sample lesson and make meaningful connections to Comal ISD curriculum documents.
Credits: 6 hours
Recommended Audience: K-5 Science Teachers
This course is intended for late hire elementary science teachers who did not have an opportunity to attend Comal U. The course will guide teachers through how to navigate the newly adopted science textbook and resources. Participants will complete the overview training and answer the questions on the Google Form (linked in the presentation) to submit their attendance.

Recommended Audience: K-5 Science Teachers
Teachers will complete the asynchronous online course by TEA. This self-paced course is a foundational training module for science safety at the elementary school level. The course provides elementary school teachers an opportunity to review safety policies, procedures, and responsibilities that pertain to instructional settings. Participants will submit their course certification through Google Forms to receive course credit.

Recommended Audience: Dual Language Elementary Teachers
This course is a required framework training for all new Dual Language teachers in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th at Comal. It will provide guidance on the implementation and best practices of our One-Way Dual Language Program Framework, including the 50/50 model. Participants are required to complete the framework training and submit their responses to the Google Form found at the end of the presentation to confirm their attendance.
Required for New-to-Comal Teachers.

Recommended Audience: ECSE - 12 Special Education staff who will utilize Embrace.
Participants will learn how to use Embrace. Embrace is the IEP data management software systems used in Comal ISD. This training is intended for all new to Comal Special Education staff who will utilize Embrace.

Recommended Audience: ECSE- 12 Special Education Teachers
Participants new to Comal ISD will learn the mission and vision of the special education department. Participants will gain an understanding of the curricula and supplemental resources the district has to offer for each program. Participants will also become familiar with support personnel who assist with IEP development and implementation. Participants will learn the district expectations for case management.
