All New-to-Comal Teachers for the 25-26 school year are highly encouraged to attend this self-paced learning opportunity introducing Comal ISD processes, systems, and supports in place.
Sessions include: Digital Learning Resources, Blast off: Essentials for Teaching in Comal, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and Professional Learning. These sessions will give you a better understanding of the supports, resources, and opportunities available to you and our students!

This course will guide you through Comal's Instructional Model and the tools and resources CISD has to offer teachers. You will find many resources for planning lessons that will engage your students and help them achieve their full potential.

In Comal ISD, we know that when learning is clear, students thrive. That’s why teacher clarity remains a key focus of the Big 3 instructional areas. In this course, participants will learn how purposeful learning intentions and measurable success criteria create clarity for both teachers and students. Participants will leave with an understanding of how to align learning intentions with standards and develop success criteria that enhance student understanding and achievement.

As part of the BIG 3 instructional areas of focus in Comal ISD, student engagement is a key priority for student success. In this course, we will discuss the importance of engagement, determine what engagement looks like, sounds like, and feels like, and discuss the 3 types of engagement. We will also focus on the 4 keys to engagement and provide you with the tools and strategies needed to foster meaningful participation in the classroom.

This training will focus on the overarching idea of classroom management as it relates to how we think about our students, how we teach our management procedures, and how we address behaviors when they need redirection. Classroom management is the foundation built so content can follow with less interruptions and more focus so we will gain a better understanding of our role in teaching classroom management, reflect on our current practices, and walk away with concrete ideas and resources to help make our management processes and procedures clear and manageable.

Comal ISD’s Essential Skills Rubrics are a powerful tool for assessing and providing feedback to students around Essential Skills. This training will allow participants to explore and interact with the Essential Skills Rubrics. Participants will connect Essential Skills to Comal ISD values and provide structures for participants to align Essential Skills Rubrics with content standards to promote deeper thinking, goal setting, practice and feedback for students.

This self-paced course is designed to equip educators with a deep understanding of the TELPAS Speaking item types and provide practical strategies for integrating these expectations across all content areas. Participants will explore each TELPAS Speaking item type, analyze language demands in various subjects, and learn how to support English learners in developing academic language through structured speaking opportunities.

This course is designed to provide an overview of the purpose and components of Tier 1 behavior systems in schools. Topics include making connections, building skills and setting expectations, providing feedback through acknowledgment and correction, team processes for system support, and data-based decision making. This course is useful for all campus staff and supports the launch of campus-wide Tier 1 systems and practices.

This course explores aligning behavior instruction as a component of Tier 1 behavior systems in schools. Participants learn about the purpose of skill building and its impact on school behavior. They also learn to use a behavior teaching plan and a Frayer Model with students to teach core values and behavior expectations.

This course explores the use of the Reach & Respond Routine as a component of Tier 1 behavior systems in schools. Participants learn about the purpose of school connectedness and its impact on human behavior. They also learn to develop and use the Reach & Respond Routine with students to build relationships and positively impact behavior.

This course explores the use of acknowledgment feedback as a component of Tier 1 behavior systems in schools. Participants learn about the purpose of acknowledgment and its impact on human behavior. They also learn to develop acknowledgment processes and how to use the Feedback Board practice to increase positive feedback to students about their behavior.
