Field Trips in AVID are sometimes the only chance some students get to visit local colleges and see what a college campus is all about. If you only take one field trip during the year, please get them to a college. Several colleges now offer virtual tour options online which can be turned into a great activity for our students as well.

Each campus handles their field trip process a little differently. Your #1 go-to person is your bookkeeper or Senior Associate to schedule buses and coordinate a field trip. Below, you will find your budget codes and the Comal guidelines for field trips and fundraising.

Field Trip Budget Code: 199-E-11-6494-00-xxx-0-38-Y-74. xxx is your campus code, your bookkeeper needs this info. This fee goes towards buses only and not student food. Students should bring their own lunch on field trips or use your fundraising money/campus money to purchase food. This fund is federal title monies, so there are some rules on it. If you need to, you can also ask your bookkeeper to transfer money from your general supplies code to your field trip fund, or vice versa.

General Supplies Code: 199-E-11-6399-00-xxx-0-38-Y-74 xxx is your campus code, your bookkeeper needs this info.

Comal ISD Info on Field Trips/Competition Trips:

Field trips are intended to enhance or supplement the schools’ instructional program. Competitions for certain activities require travel to competition locations. The school district requires parent permission and emergency information forms to be signed and returned before students are permitted to leave the campus.

Sponsors must receive prior approval for any school-related activities that require them to miss workdays. Such activities include chaperoning students on a school-sponsored trip, attending professional learning sessions or professional conferences, and adjudicating competitions.  Travel Paperwork is located in Staff Central.

Comal ISD Info on Fundraising:

Student groups or classes and/or parent groups may be permitted to conduct fund-raising drives for approved school purposes. All fund-raising projects shall be subject to prior approval of the principal. Activities are allowed 2 fundraisers per year.  [For further information, see policies at FJ, GE and the Activity Funds Manual on Eduphoria.]
