We will have Site Team time where you will be "creating your own path" of learning. During this time, you will be able to work with your campus team or a group of educators from Comal ISD on Day 1 and Day 2 to set goals for your AVID program for the year. In order to frame this work, you will need to complete the Site Team Experience and Note-Taking Guide. Submitting this document will earn you the full credit for AVID SI.

Summer is creeping up and that means it is time to start looking for PD options that best meet your needs. Comal U this year will feature some more targeted courses to the AVID elective and strategies in general (all of that talk about Comal ISD's Essential Skills are WICOR). This year, each campus except for Bulverde Middle School will be able to have 2 registrations for AVID Summer Institute. If your campus is not planning on using one or both registrations, please let Sarah King know. If you would like to send a team of people next summer, please let Sarah King know by March 8, 2024 so she can budget accordingly.
-Best for campus Site Teams or if you are wanting a strong Site Team; AVID elective teachers who are in year 1 -3 of teaching the elective.
-TBD registrations can be submitted but must be cancelled by May 12

AVID Ignite Online: June 26-28, July 22-24*
AVID Ignite Online - offered at different times during the summer with year-round support available.
-Great for campuses sending new AVID elective teachers or if a group of teachers want to attend the virtual sessions at a common location. This method will also give campuses the opportunity to have an extension of campus site team planning (must be pre-approved by campus and added to KickUp via campus admin).
-No professional travel request form needed.

-If they are an existing Comal employee, type in their name or email address, and click "Search Users". If their name pops up on the next screen, click the blue check mark. If they are new MyAVID profile, then you will need to create a new registrant by clicking "Click here to create a new registrant in the yellow box.
-Either double check existing account member's info and then click "Continue" OR type in info for new MyAVID registrant. Click "save" and/or "next"

Through out the school year, there are path trainings we can arrange that are two-day deep dives, as well as a blended PD called AVID Elevate XP. This is offered at different times during the SCHOOL YEAR with assignments through out this modular learning design.
-If there is an AVID elective teacher who is not able to be trained over the summer, or, if you would like more regular PD on your campus via AVID, this is the path for you.
Finished summer PD and looking for your AVID Badge? You can view your badge by following these steps:
1. Log in to your MyAVID account.
2. Click on the plus sign on the top of your browser to open a new tab.
3. In the new tab, type https://badges.avid.org The site will load your AVID Badge Portal or request that you login (use your same MyAVID credentials to login if it does not login immediately).
4. Your most recent badge will appear on the webpage under the My Badges menu.
5. You can click on the Badge and select View Badge to view more details, including the amount of Professional Learning Hours earned.
6. If you need to Print the Badge for your District, you can click on the Share button to Print a PDF of the Badge, which will include the description and hours.

Each staff member must upload their own PD certificate/badge to the KickUp platform (directions to upload an out-of-district event here). This will help to ensure that your strand/Community of Practice is accurately reflected on TTESS.
If your campus site team used extended time for Site Team plan creation, your campus admin will have to enter that course and confirm attendance for this time.
Remember, we do have ready-made AVID PD modules available in MyAVID for campus PD throughout the year!
