The ASME Student Design Competition (SDC) allows students to develop solutions to a wide variety of problems. Similar to other design competitions students may have encountered in high school or elsewhere, a new design problem statement is presented each year. Each team will be tasked to design, build, and operate a prototype to achieve certain objectives. SDC gives students the opportunity to accomplish goals that define what it means to be an engineer: channeling technical skills and effort toward improving the quality of life in society.
Teams of four (or more) students will first compete at the district level. Winners will advance to the final competition at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. Both district and final competition winners are eligible for rewards.
