Right now, the 6th grade is leading a sneaker recycling fundraiser to help reduce waste and fight climate change. Students are creating posters, flyers, announcements, and presentations to spread awareness about sneaker recycling and encourage donations from students and families. They are placing collection bins around the school with clear signage, organizing and labeling donated sneakers, and recruiting volunteers to help transport the bags to FedEx. Students are also creating competitions and rewards to increase participation, and researching how sneaker recycling helps reduce pollution and landfill waste. In addition, they are designing eye-catching bulletin board posters and screen announcements to promote the fundraiser and encourage the entire school community to get involved.

How It Works: Free. Simple. Impactful. STEP 1: Choose a partner type and create a FREE account. STEP 2: Your bags will ship in 3-5 days. Fill them with qualifying footwear! STEP 3: Return your bags to FedEx. All shipping is FREE. STEP 4: Sneakers are recycled, and reused.

5/14: bags arrived in the mail. We have enough for 100 sneakers. We can order more as needed.
5/18: sneaks4snacks will take place May 26-29 before and after school, bins have been placed in LS, IS and MS

The 6th grade was brainstorming ways to educate and show people about problems with climate change, and after a lot of thinking, we decided to do something we like to call Sneaks4Snacks.
Basically, Sneaks4Snacks is a bake sale, where you can trade in an old pair of sneakers for some treats, such as cookies or brownies! All of the sneakers that are donated will be given to an organization called GotSneakers, which uses old sneakers as recyclable materials. The dates will be in the morning and afternoon from May 26th to May 29th.

Hello Students & Faculty Members,
My name is Avery Lobel and I’m in sixth grade. For the climate action unit in science class we split up into groups to find what could make an impact and as a person who loves shoes. Please come and support our group by bringing a pair of sneakers to the alcove and in return you will get snacks of your choice. We really have put lots of work into this so please find a way to support. The dates to come are Tuesday the 26th through Friday the 29th before and after school hours. Hope we see your face next week!
