Right now, the 6th grade is working on a school-wide environmental project to help reduce plastic waste and fight climate change in the cafeteria. Students are researching the effects of plastics, food waste, and composting, while creating presentations, surveys, announcements, and competitions to encourage students to use fewer plastic utensils, waste less food, and compost more. They are also interviewing cafeteria workers, measuring food waste during lunch, recommending eco-friendly utensils, improving recycling systems, and starting a petition to help make the school more environmentally friendly.
Updates:

Interviewing cafeteria workers about practices currently in place that are good for the environment

Designing a survey to gage interest and knowledge of using compostable plastic utensils
Researching alternatives to plastic utensils and presenting to the cafeteria staff
