We are so fortunate to have community partners who understand the phrase “It takes a village…” Local businesses have provided both funds and learning experiences for our students. Engineers teach students concepts that can be applied to many parts of students’ lives. They create hands-on learning environments where students can plant and harvest vegetables. Local musicians and artists work with students to not only “instruct’ them on how to become a better artist or musician, but to also make connections to the real world and how they can use their talents to help their community. Weisser Park Fine Arts Magnet school also contracts with STEAM coaches who train teachers on how to leverage STEAM principles in their lesson planning so that students experience high quality STEAM experiences in the classroom as well. The numerous partnerships ensure that our students experience STEAM at a high level, while also reinforcing the connection to the world around us.
At Weisser Park we provide opportunities for all students to learn about careers in STEAM fields. Through books, lessons, fieldtrips, speakers and hands-on experiences all of our students, regardless of gender, race or ethnicity, are encouraged to dream big and follow their passions.
