Gabriela Maya was born in Sweden to Brazilian political refuges. She spent her first thirteen years here, then moved to Brazil with her family. Later she went to the U.S. and Japan to get her university degrees. A writer and researcher, she holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature, and has taught at the undergraduate level in Houston, TX for 18 years. She recently moved back to Sweden with her family and two cats. In her free time, she loves to dance and practice martial arts.
I'm Claudia and I'm from a small city in S.E. Asia called Macau. I moved to Sweden in 2011 to live with my partner, whom I met in 2009.
I spent my childhood in Toronto, Canada and Macau, and lived on the Gold Coast, Australia for a year for my studies. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Communications and a Master's degree in Arts & Media. I have always enjoyed being creative and learning through 'play'. Combined with modern technology, it is very interesting to see different kinds of non-traditional learning, and how teachers and students are constantly learning new things together.
If you have seen me around campus, you may have noticed a passion of mine is nail art! It is quite a challenge to create designs on such a small canvas, but like everything else in life, practice makes perfect!
My name is Stephanie Bradford, or Ms B for short, and I will be your design / technology teacher at Futuraskolan International. Some of you may remember me - I have previously worked at Futuraskolan International as visual arts teacher and Head of Expressive Arts Department. I am looking forward to returning to Futuraskolan!
I little bit about my background: I graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a Bachelor in Product Design, and have been working for multidisciplinary design agencies across Europe. I furthermore have postgraduate diplomas in Project Management and Journalism, an International Teaching Certificate from Cambridge Examinations and a teaching license from Washington DC. I am certified as IB DP Visual Arts Teacher and IB MYP Design Teacher. Yes, I am a life-long learner!
I am originally from Switzerland, and settled with my family in Stockholm in 2006. My husband is also a designer, which makes buying any product quite an entertaining challenge. My two sons are in high school studying the IB DP; a cat and dog completes our family. In my spare time, I like to go travelling, and my big dream is to travel along the Tropic of Capricorn one day.
But before that, I will be working with your students on innovative projects, applying the design methodology to real-life scenarios, 3D CAD modelling, covering the basics of coding, paired with sessions of divergent problem solving.
I am looking forward to working with your student.
See you in January,
Stephanie Bradford
After a thorough and rigorous search, we have a found a highly qualified Tech teacher who will be re-joining our Futuraskolan International School Community on January 7. We gladly welcome back Ms Stephanie Bradford to our Middle School Faculty. Until the end of the 2018 Academic year, students in Grade 7 and 8 will be following the Learning Goals established for ICT and Technology in the IMYC curriculum and will covered by Ms Montero and Mr Ferguson, in Grade 7 and Ms Elpers, In Grade 8. Grade 9 will be working on a independant coding and APP development project with Ms Åkerström facilitating those lessons. Rashmi Suresh, former Tech teacher, and Steve Zeff, Head of Science, Math, and Tech department will support during this time.
You can read more about Ms Stephanie Bradford in the Staff Bio section.
Grade 7A is performing Western African rhythms as a class - the project was related to their unit Communication where the students discovered various means of communication in music both in Western as well as World music. They were divided into small groups/parts and had to practise separately before we put the whole performance together. First it was a body percussion, then we replaced it with percussion instruments such as claves and Djembe drums
Enjoy!

Group performances of popular songs - the final project of the unit Responsibility. The project was based around the different types of responsibility associated with musical performance. The students were responsible to pick a song and make a cover, to practise both individually set and follow up with group rehearsals. They were even given a task to create a background/cover for their song.

Our grade 6 students (Lily Elowson, Maria Mankaryous, Nathalie Graves, Nitya Chakhaiyar) presented 'Science Experiments' at Stockholm University (Alba Nova) to an audience of above 100!!
Their audience included their peer groups, teachers from various schools of Stockholm, scientists, researchers in education and many other eminent personalities. As a part of the day, they had an opportunity to visit the most advanced labs in the university, take part in more experiments & other fun activities.
Futuraskolan takes pride in these presenting students as much as these students take pride in presenting Futuraskolan!
