I'm from a countryside area in County Limerick, Ireland. Lots of green fields and farms around us. My four siblings and I grew up surrounded by educators. Watching my mother prepare her materials in the evenings for her lessons, I loved to hear her stories from her day at school. The challenges and successes were inspiring. I went on to do a Bachelor of Education from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. I worked for three years in two different schools in Ireland, before deciding that I needed to go abroad for new life experiences.
I'm very music interested with Irish traditional music in my heart, and in recent years, bluegrass too. Running, yoga and sports are also among my interests. We have a Gaelic football club here in Stockholm, which is like a home away from home. When I'm not visiting family, I use my school breaks to travel. Cape town, Georgia and a France road trip in 2018, I'm excited about new adventures ahead in 2019.
I've been with Futuraskolan since January 2011 where I starting out with Ferdie at the Brahegatan Preschool. I gained valuable experiences here of early childhood education and Swedish language and society. I joined the International school in 2012 and spent four years teaching grade 3. It has been wonderful to see both schools grow and develop. I'm inspired by the wonderful people around me on staff, and amazed at the incredible families we have in our school. It is certainly the world experiences I was hoping for.
Do drop by for a chat if you plan to visit Ireland.
My name is Stephanie Bradford, or Ms B for short, and I will be your design / technology teacher at Futuraskolan International. Some of you may remember me - I have previously worked at Futuraskolan International as visual arts teacher and Head of Expressive Arts Department. I am looking forward to returning to Futuraskolan!
I little bit about my background: I graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a Bachelor in Product Design, and have been working for multidisciplinary design agencies across Europe. I furthermore have postgraduate diplomas in Project Management and Journalism, an International Teaching Certificate from Cambridge Examinations and a teaching license from Washington DC. I am certified as IB DP Visual Arts Teacher and IB MYP Design Teacher. Yes, I am a life-long learner!
I am originally from Switzerland, and settled with my family in Stockholm in 2006. My husband is also a designer, which makes buying any product quite an entertaining challenge. My two sons are in high school studying the IB DP; a cat and dog completes our family. In my spare time, I like to go travelling, and my big dream is to travel along the Tropic of Capricorn one day.
But before that, I will be working with your students on innovative projects, applying the design methodology to real-life scenarios, 3D CAD modelling, covering the basics of coding, paired with sessions of divergent problem solving.
I am looking forward to working with your student.
See you in January,
Stephanie Bradford
