Dear Warm Springs Community,

As we welcome the month of March, our school is buzzing with excitement for the events and activities that will showcase the incredible talents and creativity of our students. This month, we had tryouts for our annual Variety Show, where students were able to showcase their talents and shine on stage. Additionally, we had our Read Across America door decorating contest, as well as our Read-a-Thon fundraiser, which will not only promote the love of reading but also raise funds to support literacy initiatives in our school as well. Our students still have time to read until this Friday, when the fundraiser ends. Keep on reading! We will use some of these funds to continue to build our online reading library where students can check out books anytime, including over the summer. To top it all off, we had a special Rock Out to Reading assembly.  Students enjoyed a fun and interactive experience centered around the joy of books and music.

I am continuously inspired by the creativity, resilience, and spirit of collaboration that defines our school. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Warm Springs a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Spring Break is just around the corner and I hope everyone has a wonderful break as the weather starts to warm up!

In partnership,

Scott Iwata
Principal

GROWTH MINDSET QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

“Be of good cheer. Do not think of today's failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost.”

Helen Keller

Message from the Student Support Services Department:

Dear Families and Caregivers,

We love having your children at school all school year!

This is the time of year when winter weather takes a toll on school attendance. Road conditions and rain can make it hard to get your children to school. So can illnesses such as colds, flu, fevers, earaches, and COVID-19.

These absences, even if they are excused, break the routine of daily attendance which can impact students feeling connected and engaged in learning. Please consider these steps to keep your children healthy and in school this winter.

1.  Develop back up plans for getting your children to school. Check who can give your children a ride if you can’t take them, or form a “walking school bus” to walk to school with other families. [Maybe insert information on earliest time student can be dropped off and breakfast info]

2. If your children get sick or you are concerned about Covid or the flu, talk to your child’s medical provider or the school nurse for advice.

3. Stomach pain and headaches can be signs of anxiety and may not be reasons for keeping a child home. If you feel that anxiety or stress is playing a role, talk to your child’s teacher, the school nurse, counselor or your medical provider about how best to support your child.

4. Encourage children to wash their hands before and after eating and after using the restroom.

5.   Encourage healthy habits such as getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, drinking fluids and getting exercise.

Thank you for partnering with us!
