Save the dates! Maloney Library's annual Scholastic Bookfair fundraiser will be held in mid- November, before Thanksgiving break. Details to come as the date approaches. Hope to see you at the Bookfair!
Some things to keep in mind for Bookfair:
eWallet option
eWallet is a safe, cash-free way for your student to shop at the Bookfair. eWallet is a digital payment account. No more "lost" cash at school! As Bookfair approaches, a student's family follows a link on the Maloney Bookfair homepage to create a free eWallet account. Funds can be added via credit card.
Funds are available immediately, so a child can shop the Fair with eWallet right away. If there is a leftover balance at the end of the Bookfair, Scholastic will turn it into a Scholastic eGift Card, which can be use to fund a future eWallet.
Remember to add tax!
Tax must be added to all listed prices at the fair or the concurrent online fair. If you are providing cash or eWallet funds to your student, make sure to add enough to cover tax (currently 10.25%). Unfortunately, if a student does not have enough funds to cover the purchase price plus the tax, we are unable to make the sale.
All sales are FINAL
Students will bring home flyers with featured books and may come for a walk-through preview of the Bookfair. We tell them to make sure that what they intend to purchase has their grownups' approval, even if they are spending their own allowance/gift money. Please discuss this with your student before they shop at the bookfair. If you are able to accompany your student during after school bookfair hours, that would be great!
Note: Students are only allowed to shop after school if they are accompanied by their own grownup (not just an older sibling); otherwise they can shop on their own with their class or at recess.
The bookfair is a fundraiser for the school library; it is not a retail store like Target or Walmart, so there are no exchanges or refunds. If a student purchases an item that does not meet their grownup's approval, or they accidentally bought something they already have, they can make good use of the purchase by donating the item to their classroom or to the library for their classmates to enjoy.
BYOB (Bags!)
Be green, and please bring your own bags for purchases, as Scholastic no longer provides plastic bags. Thank you!!Â
