WORK PERMITS IN THE CAREER CENTER!
If you are under 18 and have a job, you need to fill out an application for a work permit(link attached below). To qualify, you must have a 2.0+ GPA and/or no failing grades with satisfactory attendance. All fields in the application, including your social security number, parent signature, and employer information, need to be completed. Submit your work permit application to Ms. Chophla in the Career Center. Please make sure the have wet signatures on the form and no e-submission will be accepted. You can pick up the signed permit in the Career Center in 2-3 days.
Please note that working online is illegal for minors. Minors may only work at brick and mortar businesses where they can be seen and monitored by labor inspectors and for good reason, child labor violations and child worker exploitation is rampant and some are clamoring for the rollback of child labor protections Foundation for Government Accountability behind child labor law rollbacks, emails show - The Washington Post
Student Work Permits
All high school students under the age of 18* must have a valid work permit if they are currently working or plan to work while in high school. The application for a work permit must be completed by the student and employer and signed by the parent or guardian. Completed applications should be given to Ms. Chophla in the College/Career Center for processing. The Work Permits need to be renewed every new school year.
*Students must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA to obtain and keep a work permit! (District policy)
* Very important - Request forms and work permits with your Social Security Number should never be emailed back and forth electronically due to identity theft, hacking, and liability risks.
